When someone you love dies, whatever your belief
Your body and spirit seem somehow disjoint
It's as though your spirit is in search for theirs
Whilst your body is left behind... to carry on with life
Now and then your spirit returns, bringing some news
A sense of upliftment arrives with a smile
Sometimes fleeting, not loud, yet crystal clear
It stays with you for a while... then suddenly it's gone
As if it must continue the search; to somehow reconfirm
To find your loved ones energy once more
In order to return, with its upliftment, with a sign,
With its energy to heal... the void that's left inside
When someone you love dies, you take another look at life
You question what it's all about, maybe there's a chance
A possibility, an opportunity for growth
To focus on something more... more than just ourselves
To glimpse the bigger picture; the circle of life and death
The chance to know that love goes on
The energy that love provides can never die
It floods right in to fill the void...
